Important Information

The Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship Office (CIU) has announced important news on changes to its program. In short, there are now fewer restrictions, higher fees for those applying for investments in the National Development Fund (NDF), and a lower fee for the subsequent addition of dependent children on approved applications.

The current minimum investment amount for the real estate option remains $ 200,000 for a joint investment or $ 400,000 for a single household application.

Another change worth paying attention to is the new right for CIP investors to resell the property to subsequent applicants, either in the form of a share or unit, conveying the same rights to apply for citizenship. The aim is to maintain the market value of housing and to protect investors’ assets.

The cost of an NDF application has increased from $ 25,000 to $ 30,000. As a further stimulus, CIP fees will be reduced from $ 50,000 to $ 30,000 starting April 1, 2020.

Restrictions on the following nationalities – Iranians, North Koreans, Somalis, Sudanese, Iraqis, Sudanese, Iraqis, and Yemenis – have been relaxed. Previously these citizens had to live only in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Australia, or New Zealand. Now, applicants residing in any country, except those included in the Restricted Countries List, can apply for the program.

Citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda can also be applied for by stateless persons. Stateless applicants from Brunei, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
